Drive-In Worship:

Q: Do I have to stay in my car?

A: Yes! Right now we are asking all non-volunteers to stay in their car. This helps add an extra layer of safety and precaution to us gathering for worship! We do encourage you to turn around and wave and greet those in the cars next to you, wave to Pastor Allison on the way out, and make yourself as comfortable as possible! Windows will be down and we pray for a good refreshing breeze! While masks are not required inside the car, we encourage them for an added effort of protection. We want to make our worship safe for everyone!

Q: What about Communion?

A: We will celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of the month! That means July 5th. Bring your own elements from home for those in your car – that means a piece of bread or a cracker, grape juice, or another beverage!

Q: Why Drive-In? Why not Worship by the Water?

A: Not meeting for Worship by the Water is impacting all of us. We love and miss this service! At this time we do not believe that we can pull of this service effectively and safely for everyone. We also want to cooperate with the city and their restrictions and limitations on mass gatherings and follow all permit requirements and rules. Even if we had permission to meet, the service would be different in feel as limitations on music and distancing would be in place.

At this time we believe Drive-In worship creates a safe alternative for those missing going to church on Sunday, singing together, and hearing a sermon “face to face.”

Due to COVID-19 the below service is currently not taking place

Worship in the Sanctuary: A roughly 60-minute worship service with singing, responsive liturgy, Scripture reading, a children’s moment, and an uplifting & challenging sermon. When we celebrate Holy Communion, we have an Open Table – and that means EVERYONE – no exceptions – is invited to join in this sacrament together.

We describe ourselves as joyous and caring – and that’s reflected in our Sunday worship and time together. We have traditional worship with a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere – we want all to feel welcomed and loved here.

Due to COVID-19 the below service is currently not taking place

Worship by the Water: A roughly 45-minute worship service at Sherod Park, looking out at gorgeous Lake Erie. This service is very relaxed and uplifting – we sing songs with our Praise Band, have a children’s moment, read Scripture, and a sermon. When we celebrate Holy Communion, we have an Open Table – and that means EVERYONE – no exceptions – is invited to join in this sacrament together.
All are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, yoga mat, or blanket to sit on! We have some extras in case you forget!

Dogs on leashes are welcome – and we will have a treat for them!

COVID-19 FAQ

Q: How are we deciding when to move from Phase to Phase?
A: The Safe Start Team is using the Guidelines set forth by the conference office, allowing time to contextualize and implement them. We will also determine phases based on the new color-coded county public health alert system (https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/covid-19/public-health-advisory-system/).

What this means:

If both Erie and Lorain are Red/Purple we will revert back to Phase 1 and suspend all in-person meetings.

Both counties will have to be in Orange or Yellow for two weeks before moving back into Phase 2 (Phase 2A = small groups outside the building, Phase 2B = small groups inside the building).

If there is a combination of colors between the counties where one of them is Red, it is up to the discretion of the Safe Start Team and the Pastor as to which phase we will be in.

We will enter Phase 3 when both counties have been Yellow for two or more weeks and The Safe Start Team and Pastor approve the phase change and are ready to implement Phase 3.

What Should I Wear?

Whatever you feel most comfortable in! Some of our folks are more traditional and will get dressed up – others will be wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Do what feels right for you. We encourage weather appropriate clothes and sunscreen and sunglasses for our outside Worship by the Water service…and if you want to wear sunglasses inside, that’s okay, too!

What About My Kids?

Worship in the Sanctuary: We want your children to feel welcomed and included in worship. Because of that we have a children’s sermon every Sunday that helps explain a simple message of God’s love on their level. After the children’s sermon youth Pre-K – 6th Grade are invited to our one-room Sunday School class. It’s an environment of shared learning and growing, for every age group. We also have a staffed nursery for the younger children and a toddler and family room available for your convenience.

Worship by the Water: We want your children to feel welcomed and included in worship. Because of that we have a children’s sermon every Sunday that helps explain a simple message of God’s love on their level. After the children’s sermon, children are invited to help pass out dog treats and then return to their seats. We have children’s activity bags available every Sunday to help them through the service. Plus – we’re outside and they can stretch their legs if they need to!

What About My Fur Babies?

Dogs on leashes are invited to our Worship by the Water service! We will have a treat for them!
