What to Expect

Plan Your Visit

At Grace United Methodist Church we invite all into a joyous and caring Christian community, but we know that first visit can be difficult. We want you to feel welcome and comfortable at GUMC. Check out this page for information to help you plan your visit.

When & Where?

We worship every Sunday morning and other special days throughout the year. From Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend we “Worship By The Water” at 9 AM in Sherod Park. Sherod Park is located across the street from our church building. From the Sunday after Labor Day to the Sunday before Memorial Day weekend we worship in our sanctuary at 10:15 AM. Our church is located at 13406 W Lake Road Vermilion, OH 44089. Our services are live-streamed year-round on our Facebook page.

What Happens?

Worship in the Sanctuary

We describe ourselves as joyous and caring – and we seek to reflect that in our Sunday worship. We have traditional worship with a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere. We want all to feel welcomed and loved at Grace UMC. Our roughly 60-minute worship service includes responsive liturgy, Scripture reading, a children’s moment, an uplifting & challenging sermon, lively music and singing.

Livestream Worship

We livestream our worship service on Facebook every Sunday year round. Please note that the livestream does not become available until five minutes before worship begins. Refresh the page around that time and look for the live video to click on. Follow this link to join in: http://www.facebook.com/vermiliongrace

Worship by the Water

From Memorial Day to Labor Day we worship at Sherod Park. Our service is roughly 45-minutes and overlooks gorgeous Lake Erie. This service is very casual and uplifting. Worship is led by our Praise Band, we have a children’s moment, read Scripture, and hear a sermon. All are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, yoga mat, or blanket to sit on. We have some extras in case you forget! We also have a limited number of parking spots available for those with physical challenges or limitations. Dogs on leashes are welcome and we always have a special treat for them too!

Celebrating Holy Communion

Whether we are inside our sanctuary or in Sherod Park, when we celebrate Holy Communion all are invited to the Lord’s Table. We have an Open Table – and that means EVERYONE – no exceptions – is invited to join in this sacrament together.

What Should I Wear?

Whatever you feel most comfortable in! Some of our folks are more traditional and will get dressed up – others will be wearing jeans or shorts and a t-shirt. Do what feels right for you!

What About My Kids?

Worship in the Sanctuary

We want your children to feel welcomed and included in worship. For that reason we have a children’s moment every Sunday that helps explain a simple message of God’s love on their level. After the children’s moment, children are invited to Sunday School. It’s a safe environment of shared learning and growing, for every age group. We also have a nursery for the younger children and a toddler and family room available for your convenience.

Worship by the Water

We want your children to feel welcomed and included in worship. For that reason, we have a children’s moment every Sunday that helps explain a simple message of God’s love on their level. After the children’s moment, kids are invited to help pass out dog treats and then return to their families. We have children’s activity bags available every weekend to help them through the service. Plus, we’re outside at the park with plenty of room to stretch their legs or play on the playground!

What About My Fur Kids?

Worship by the Water

Dogs on leashes are always invited to our Worship by the Water service. We will have a special treat for them and lots of pets to go around!
